The Slow Times
If you are a current subscriber and want to manage or view your subscription, you can do so via:
- Logging into your customer account portal if you have an existing account, under "Subscriptions" button,
- Or through a magic link sent to your email if you prefer to access your subscriptions without a customer account.

For the jaded, modern soul
The Slow Times is an 8-page A5-sized physical newsletter that I write and illustrate, previously a monthly reward on Patreon, now an independent subscription service on The Slow Nook.
It contains reflective musings from my winding journey as someone yearning for respite and slowness from a fast-paced city. I hope for it to emulate the feeling of the old times — coffee and newspaper in hand, starting our mornings slow.
How does the subscription work?
A new issue and print is written and illustrated monthly. You will receive the most recent issue of the month you are subscribed. If you'd like to purchase a specific past issue, you can find them at The Slow Times Archive.
- Subscription is billed monthly on the same date
(e.g. Billed recurrently on the 5th of each month if you first subscribed on the 5th of January)
- Mailed out on the last day of each month
- Manage (edit, pause or cancel) your subscription anytime
You can access your subscriptions through the customer portal.
What subscription types are there?
Please ensure you have the correct variation chosen before checking out!
Physical Subscription:
- Art print and/or newspaper issues shipped out and mailed to your letterbox via stamped mail
- Printed on high-quality Acid-free, FSC Certified papers
Digital Subscription:
- The digital newspaper will be sent via email to the registered email on your placed order
on the last day of each month (not immediately downloadable) - No physical item will be shipped
- Delivered in high-resolution PDF file format
- Contains the same content as the physical version

11 April Update: Shipping for The Slow Times has resumed for EU countries. EU customers will now be able to subscribe.
I ship to most places worldwide, if you are unable to find your country on the selector list at checkout, please drop me an email so that I can assist you with checking if it is a location I am able to ship to and add :-)
Both physical and digital subscription products are fulfilled on the last day of each month to avoid administrative and processing overlaps.
- If you subscribe to a physical subscription, your print and/or monthly issue will be mailed out on the last day of each month.
- If you susbcribe to the digital subcription, you will receive an email containing the PDF file on the last day of each month.
Yes, you can add the subscription to cart with other products from the store and make a total payment. Only the subscription will be a recurring charge.
Please note that regular shipping charges will apply if you have other products in your cart. The subscription's free shipping does not apply to other products from the store. For questions about shipping your subscription together with an existing order, you may refer to "Will my subscription be shipped together if carted out with other items?"
Subscriptions are fulfilled separately at the end of the month via untracked letter mail. If you place an order containing a subscription and other products from the store, I will fulfill your order with its tracking number first and ship your untracked subscription out at the end of the month.
However, I'd be glad to accommodate if you would like for everything to be shipped together. I can hold onto your order until the end of the month and fulfil it together with your subscription. Please indicate this in your order note before purchasing or email me at hello@theslownook.com if I have not yet fulfilled your order.
Like the physical version, digital subscriptions are also fulfilled on the last day of each month. You will receive an email containing a PDF attachment of the month's issue.
Your digital issues are sent out on the last day of every month. If you still have not received any email by the following day at Singapore Time (GMT +8):
- Sometimes, your email provider may flag registered domains as promotional material and so may end up in your spam or promotions tab. Please try looking at this tabs!
- Otherwise, please drop me an email at hello@theslownook.com so that I can troubleshoot and send your copy over promptly.
I think part of the charm of The Slow Times is being surprised each month by what comes in the mail! But if you prefer to have a content preview for upcoming issues, I sometimes post sneak peeks for the month's issue on my personal email newsletter, Sparrow's Post.
I do not accept any refunds or returns for The Slow Times subscription. If your mail arrives damaged or you suspect it is lost, please refer to Shipping & Delivery: What if my mail arrives damaged or is lost?
Shipping & Delivery
Your subscription automatically includes free mailing to your letterbox, which means that there is no additional cost of mailing to be paid per month.
Your mail does not get sent out immediately after your subscription goes through. Subscriptions are mailed out on the last day of their respective month's. (e.g. If you subscribe on July 12, bulk mailing is done on July 31st)
Local: Your mail should reach you between 3-5 working days after it is posted out (typically within the first week of the following month).
International: Mail delivery times will vary based on where you are in the world and subject to other external factors out of my control such as customs, weather and local post office delays. A good estimate would be between 2-6 weeks for most countries.
Subscriptions are shipped by flat mail to your letterbox and will not come with any tracking information. This helps me to offer free shipping for you!
For concerns about lost/damaged mail or enquiries on upgrading to tracked shipping, please refer to "What if my mail arrives damaged or is lost?"
Untracked letter mailing usually comes with a risk of lost or damaged mail with a low probability of retrieval. I do my best to ship your mail out in a sturdy envelope without too much environmental waste. Some minor corner nicks and bends may be inevitable.
Lost or Damaged Mail
However, I will be more than glad to assist you if your mail arrives damaged or does not arrive after the expected delivery time has elapsed. Please note that for all cases, I will only be able to accommodate up to one free re-shipment. Please email me at hello@theslownook.com and I'll do my best to help!
Tracked Shipping Option
If you prefer to pay an extra fee to upgrade your subscription to be sent out via tracked shipping, you can email me at hello@theslownook.com!
Managing My Subscription
If you are a current subscriber and want to manage or view your subscription, you can do so via:
- Logging into your customer account portal if you have an existing account, under "Subscriptions" button,
- Or through a magic link sent to your email if you prefer to access your subscriptions without a customer account.
Here, you will be able to view your upcoming billing schedule and history, cancel your subscription, edit your payment method, and change your shipping address.
Our system will retry failed billing attempts a maximum of 3 times, 1 day apart between each attempt, before automatically cancelling your subscription. You can renew your subscription again through your customer portal.
If you'd like to access subscription management through the customer account portal, but did not create an account prior to your subscription, you can simply create an account using the same email you used to subscribe. Your past information and records will be synced into the customer portal.
If you'd like to pause your subscription for a month without cancelling it completely, I'd be glad to accommodate. Please write in to hello@theslownook.com at least 3 working days before your next billing!
You can update your shipping address via the customer portal. Please see "How do I manage, edit or cancel my subscription?" for details on how to access the customer portal.

I do not presently offer a trial, but you may purchase a past issue from The Slow Times archive before deciding if you'd like to commit to a subscription.
